New Student Assessment:
Prior to the start of the school year, all new incoming Star Academy students undergo hours of testing by our in-house specialists so that we may develop an appropriate education plan for each student. Assessments are conducted in each of the following areas: Speech and Language, OT, Slingerland, Making Math Real, Lindamood-Bell® *, and academic achievement.
These assessments are required for entrance into Star Academy and may not be substituted by assessments conducted by professionals from the student's current school or other outside providers.
In-house testing at Star Academy is an essential component of the program. It enables us to determine the most appropriate combination of services for each student, helps us place students in the appropriate math and reading groups among others, and is the means by which we evaluate student progress annually. Incoming new students are evaluated twice in their first year - first, prior to the start of school, and again at the end of the school year. Thereafter, assessments are conducted annually (at the end of the school year) to measure student progress and plan their program for the coming year.
