Star Academy gets gift: $10 million facility

San Anselmo's Star Academy is about to move into a newly renovated, $10 million building it got as a gift.
The multimillion acquisition and rehabilitation of the school's new San Rafael location at 4470 Redwood Highway was made possible by an anonymous donor, said Susan MacKay, president of the board of directors. The school plans to move in mid-March.

On February 4th, Star Academy, a school for students with learning differences, received the keys to a newly remodeled, 20,000 sq ft, custom-designed building in San Rafael. This building, a gift from an anonymous benefactor, will become the new home for Star Academy, which has been based in San Anselmo for the past twenty years.
Jonathan Mooney Visits
Jonathan Mooney, author of two books about living with learning differences, was a special guest speaker at Star Academy in 2007. To a full house of riveted students, teachers and parents, Jonathan spoke of his own experiences and challenges growing up with learning differences, how he learned to cope with them along the way, and how he became highly successful in spite of, and because of, his learning differences.
