School Description and Mission Statement (School Year 2007-08)
This section provides information about the school, its programs and its goals.
Star Academy provides an intensive, individualized academic program for students with multiple learning differences, with a commitment to help students achieve their full potential and lead gratifying, productive lives. It is hoped that our students will serve as examples of what is possible with effective education. They will posses an awareness of and confidence in their skills, ability to capitalize on their strengths, capacity to experience the joy of friendships and the pride of work well done, and the desire to make positive contributions to the communities in which they live. |
Opportunities for Parental Involvement (School Year 2007-08)
This section provides information about opportunities for parents to become involved with school activities.
Parents are actively involved in the Star Academy community through major fundraising programs, participation in support groups, active dialogue with staff pertaining to their child’s education, assisting with classroom fieldtrips, and, in some instances, membership on the Board of Directors. Parents may also join SPA (Star Parent Association) |

III. School Climate
School Safety Plan (School Year 2007-08)
This section provides information about the school's comprehensive safety plan.
Fire Drills are held once a month – Disaster practice is held once a year. Each classroom/office has a map (posted near the door) with exits and directions of the school, which facilitates a secure route out of the building during a drill/disaster. Typed emergency procedures are included in both the staff handbook & the parent / student handbook. |

School Facility Conditions and Planned Improvement (School Year 2008-09)
This section provides information about the condition of the school’s grounds, buildings, and restrooms based on the most recent data available, and a description of any planned or recently completed facility improvements.
In March 2008 Star Academy moved into a newly remodeled and improved facility. Maintenance staff ensures that the building repairs are done in a timely manner. The school facilities are regularly cleaned by our custodial staff. |
