In light of the COVID crisis, the admissions process may be different than the steps outlined below. We are considering alternatives to the required shadow days on a case-by-case basis in an effort to expedite the process for you. Therefore, it is of the utmost importance that all supporting documents and reports be submitted to allow us to get an accurate picture of your student’s complete learning and social-emotional profile.

Thank you for your continued interest in Star Academy. I look forward to working with you as you consider educational alternatives for your student.

Thank you for your interest in Star Academy

We are proud of our unique program and take great joy in helping you explore Star Academy as an educational option for your Student. I invite you to learn more about the Star experience by attending one of our monthly open houses. We welcome parents and caretakers of prospective students, as well as professionals in the field of education to participate in an informational presentation and tour of the facilities and classrooms.

Our admissions process is comprehensive and involves careful consideration of each applicant's full learning and social-emotional profile. Completed applications and supporting documents are thoroughly reviewed in the order in which they are received. Please keep in mind that all required documents along with the $150 application fee must be submitted for an application to be considered complete and placed in queue for review. After the initial file review, if your student seems to be a fit for our program, then he or she will be invited to shadow one of our classrooms for 2 days. We make every effort to set the student up for success and to provide an experience that feels welcoming and engaging. During your student’s visit I will observe in a variety of settings throughout the day to get a better sense of his/her strengths, challenges, and potential fit for our program model and teaching methodologies. Feedback from the teachers and specialist who had an opportunity to observe your student is also considered and discussed with our Head of School to make an admissions decision.

Given the careful attention and consideration we give to each applicant, the admissions process can take some time. The full process can take as little as 3 weeks to as many as 10 weeks depending on the time of year. We receive our highest volume of inquiries and applications between February and June so please be aware that the process can be a bit longer during that time period. Any applications received in late June or during the month of July will be held for review in August when we are back in session.

I hope that you will contact me with any questions you may have during the admissions process. I look forward to meeting you and guiding you through this process.
