What grades does Star Academy serve?
Star Academy serves students from third grade through high school and offers a two-year post-high school program for students from 18-22 years old.
 
What is Star Academy’s school schedule?
Star’s school day runs from 8:20 am-3:10 pm each day for all grades.  Our extended school year includes 10 ½ months of instruction from mid-August through July, with 12 weeks of vacation given throughout the year.  
 
Where do Star students live?
Star Academy draws students from six Bay Area counties representing 26 public school districts.
 
Does Star provide student transportation?
Star has van transportation that can be utilized for an additional fee.
 
What is the typical class size?
The teacher-to-student ratio is 1:4, 1:5 or 1:6, depending on age and class composition. Each classroom has a head teacher and at least one assistant teacher.
 
What is Star Academy's curriculum like?
Each student's curriculum is individualized according to their needs. No two student programs are the same. Our curriculum is based on California Common Core standards, adapted to meet each student’s needs.
 
What enrichment programs does Star Academy offer?
As a part of Star’s regular school day, students participate in music, drama, physical education, and a variety of electives.  High school students can also participate in internships. In addition, we offer after-school activities such as basketball, volleyball, dodgeball, cooking club, sewing club, musical theater, and more.
 
What accreditations and certifications does Star Academy have?
Star Academy is fully accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) and is certified by the California Department of Special Education.
 
Does Star Academy offer educational resources for parents?
Star hosts a Speaker Series and other educational events that are open to the public. Speakers include Star staff, as well as recognized professionals in the special education field.
