For more than 30 years, Star Academy has helped students with learning differences discover their strengths and reach their full potential. Today, we have a powerful opportunity to expand our acclaimed Post-High School (PHS) program—a model that helps young adults ages 18–22 build independence, gain work experience, and continue their education in ways that honor their unique strengths and needs.
Star’s Post-High School program has helped so many young adults move toward greater independence. We’ve seen students discover their strengths, gain workplace skills, and take bold steps into the wider world — inspiring their families and our entire community.
It’s about ensuring that every student has the opportunity to continue that journey, supported by a program that has already proven its impact. Together, we will create a vibrant learning center for students and families seeking a path toward independence and a future filled with possibility.
Thank you for your partnership!

Our Vision
Our Post-High School program has outgrown its leased space. A recently vacated building on our main campus gives us the chance to bring it home. Renovations will create real-world learning spaces and allow us to serve more students and families for years to come.

The Star Post-High School program has provided a fun, supportive and empowering opportunity for our son to explore his next steps. It's the transition placement that so many parents are looking for.

Until now, the PHS program has operated out of a leased facility. But with a 6,200 sq. ft. building now available on our main campus, we have a one-time opportunity to renovate and relocate the program to a space designed specifically for this age group and purpose.
The renovated space will allow us to serve up to 40 students per year, with two program tracks: one focused on college preparation, the other on functional academics and vocational training. The facility will include:
A teaching kitchen for practicing culinary skills and building executive functioning
A simulated apartment for developing independent living routines
A simulated business - a café where students gain job experience and earn food handler certifications
A skills lab for vocational exploration (e.g., folding, sorting, inventory, repair)
Laundry facilities, specialist offices, classrooms, and shared community space.
For the first time, Star students will be able to transition into a post-high school environment that is familiar, aspirational, and equipped to support their next steps—all on the same campus they already know and love.
There are very few programs in the Bay Area that provide this kind of integrated, multi-year support for students with learning differences after high school. Since launching in 2017, Star’s PHS program has consistently delivered real results: college enrollment, employment readiness, increased independence, and meaningful personal growth. Families report relief, confidence, and deep appreciation for the path the program provides.
The expansion will allow us to double the number students we can serve. The program now serves approximately 20 students each year in a leased facility with limited space and functionality. With new referrals from partner districts and families, we know we can serve more students—and serve them better.
We invite you to imagine the possibilities: a young adult serving coffee in a student-run café, planning a week of meals and budgeting for groceries, or preparing for their first job interview with support from a specialist who knows them well.
This is what Star makes possible. And now, we can extend that bridge to even more students.
